On Thanksgiving morning, central Indiana residents are kicking off the holiday by participating in a variety of 5K runs and walks to support various causes. One of the runs focuses on community and family, with proceeds going towards fighting childhood hunger in local schools. Another run in Hamilton County aims to raise money to buy AEDs for law enforcement officers. The Fit Livin’ run will benefit Hemophilia of Indiana and their scholarship program. The Hendricks Regional Health YMCA run will support the YMCA and its programs. The Gravy Chase runs in Lebanon and Zionsville will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Boone County. The Greenfield Main Street Foundation 5K will raise funds for Greenfield Parks & Recreation and the Hope House. The Fishers YMCA run will help families access memberships and programs. Lastly, a run in Broad Ripple will provide meals and care for those experiencing homelessness in central and south-central Indiana. Each run offers a unique way for participants to give back to their communities on Thanksgiving day.
