Clint Keown, a former University of Evansville basketball player and Indiana Sports Hall of Fame inductee, tragically died in a car crash in Illinois. Keown, 44, was remembered by UE Director of Athletics as an Evansville legend who cared deeply about the university and community. He was a member of the 1999 Men’s Basketball Championship team and known for his positive attitude and smile. The crash occurred as Keown was returning home from a golf tournament. His brother, Casey, announced the news on Facebook, urging people to hold their families close and pray for his parents. Keown was a star athlete at Memorial High School in Evansville, playing basketball, football, and baseball. He transferred to South Carolina-Aiken, excelling in both basketball and baseball. He signed with the Cincinnati Reds but played only one season in Class A ball before retiring. Keown is survived by his wife, son, and two stepchildren. His tragic passing has left the sports community mourning the loss of a talented and admired athlete.
