The Indiana State Museum’s Celebration Crossing is back for the holiday season, inviting families to experience the magic of Christmas. The event kicked off with Santa arriving by helicopter to greet visitors. The highlight of the festivities is the 92 County Tree, a 25-foot wonder adorned with handcrafted ornaments representing each Indiana county. Families can also enjoy attractions like Santa’s house and a festive train ride through a snowy forest. This year, a new addition to the celebration is a Kwanzaa community festival, offering visitors a chance to immerse themselves in African music, dance, vendors, and worship services.
Carla Knapp, director of communications at the Indiana State Museum, emphasized the event’s tradition, dating back over 30 years. She expressed the museum’s commitment to inclusivity, offering elements of various holidays like Christmas, Kwanzaa, and Hannukah for all visitors to enjoy. Celebration Crossing will run from Nov. 29 to Jan. 5, 2025, with a break on Dec. 25. Families are encouraged to join in the festive spirit and create lasting memories at the Indiana State Museum this holiday season.
