The Indiana War Memorial in Indianapolis is undergoing a $2.1 million repair project to fix damage caused by a leaking roof. The project, which is in its final phase, involved replacing the old roof with a new granite one in 2020. Executive Director General Stewart Goodwin stated that now that the roof is sealed, repairs to the indoor damages, including a damaged plaster ceiling, can begin. The repair work has been challenging due to the height of the ceiling, requiring crews to set up scaffolding both inside and outside the building. Goodwin emphasized the importance of preserving these landmarks as a way to honor and remember the sacrifices made by those who served. The funding for the project was secured from the state, with the scaffolding being a significant expense. The repairs are expected to be completed by September. Goodwin emphasized the importance of never forgetting the people and events memorialized by the Indiana War Memorial.
