Providence High School’s football team secured their first-ever state championship title on Saturday after defeating North Judson 35-20 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Led by quarterback Preston Kempf, who rushed for four touchdowns and threw another, the Pioneers fought back from an initial 6-0 deficit to dominate the game. Kempf’s impressive touchdown runs of 5, 13, 45, and 47 yards, combined with a solid defensive performance, sealed the victory for Providence. Coach Daniel McDonald praised the team’s disciplined defense and Kempf’s outstanding performance, highlighting the unity and teamwork that led to their success. Despite facing a tough opponent in North Judson, the Pioneers finished the season undefeated at 14-0, while North Judson ended at 14-1. McDonald credited Kempf as the best football player in southern Indiana and emphasized the team’s collective effort in achieving their historic win. The Providence community celebrated the victory, marking a significant milestone in the school’s football program.
