A tragic house fire in Wabash, Indiana resulted in the death of a 2-year-old child while critically injuring a 6-month-old child. The fire was reported at 12:10 p.m. in the 600 block of Columbus Street. Firefighters arrived on the scene to find the house actively burning and discovered the two children inside. The 6-month-old was unconscious and not breathing but was resuscitated and taken to a local hospital, then flown to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis where they are now in stable condition. Unfortunately, 2-year-old Deliaha Goforth was found dead at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, with initial reports suggesting it started on the first floor where Deliaha was located. The children were reportedly sleeping in separate rooms when the fire broke out. An autopsy will be conducted on Deliaha to determine the cause of death. Authorities are working to determine if there was a criminal element involved in the incident. This tragic event has deeply impacted the local community, and the authorities are working vigilantly to uncover the details surrounding the fire.
