Decatur Central High School’s football team has made a remarkable comeback by winning their first state championship trophy after being runner-up the previous year. In a dominant performance, the Hawks defeated Warsaw Community 38-24 at Lucas Oil Stadium. Head coach Kyle Enright praised the resilience and dedication of his team, highlighting their hard work and discipline throughout the season.
The Hawks’ defense played a crucial role in the victory by forcing five turnovers, while quarterback Bo Polston and receiver Kasmir Hicks led the offense with impressive performances. Junior running back Fa’Rel Carter also contributed with 170 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
Notably, this win marks the first football state championship for Decatur Central’s program and head coach Kyle Enright. Enright, the son of legendary coach Dave Enright, joins his father as an Indiana state champion. The Enrights also make history as the fifth father-son duo to coach their teams to state championships.
This victory adds to Decatur Central’s athletic department’s success, with previous state championships in baseball in 2008 and softball in 2018. The Hawks’ remarkable achievement showcases the team’s determination and skill, solidifying their place in Indiana high school football history.
