Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever’s Star Player, Named to All-WNBA First Team

Indiana Fever point guard Caitlin Clark’s impressive rookie season continued with her selection to the All-WNBA first team, the league announced on Wednesday. She joins an elite group of players, including unanimous selections A’ja Wilson and Napheesa Collier, as well as Breanna Stewart and Alyssa Thomas.

Clark is the first rookie since 2008 to earn first-team honors, following in the footsteps of greats such as Sue Bird, Tamika Catchings, and Diana Taurasi. She received 52 first-team votes from a panel of 67 sportswriters and broadcasters. The New York Liberty led all teams with three selections, while Wilson and Collier were unanimous choices and finished in the same order as the MVP vote won by Wilson.

Stewart, who narrowly missed a unanimous selection, and Thomas round out the first team, while second-team honors went to standout players like Sabrina Ionescu, Kahleah Copper, Nneka Ogwumike, Arike Ogunbowale, and Jonquel Jones.

All five first-team players led their teams to the postseason, highlighting their contributions on the court. Each first-team member receives a $10,300 bonus to their salaries, while second-team winners receive $5,150.

Clark’s exceptional season, which included leading the Fever back to the playoffs for the first time in years, has solidified her status as one of the top rookies in the league. Her impressive play, along with the standout performances of her fellow honorees, has set a high bar for future WNBA rookies to strive for.
