Taylor Swift has been named the most-played artist on Spotify for the second year in a row. With over 26.6 billion streams, she topped the global list followed by The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, Drake, and Billie Eilish. In the U.S., the top artists were Swift, Drake, Zach Bryan, Morgan Wallen, and Kanye West.
Swift’s album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” was the most-streamed album in 2024 globally and in the U.S. Carpenter’s song “Espresso” was the most-streamed globally and in the U.S.
Spotify wrapped also introduced new features this year, including a data story called “Your Music Evolution” and a personalized playlist. Some users criticized the new minimalist design of Wrapped, missing features like “Top Cities,” “Audio Auras,” and “Top Genres.”
With streaming now accounting for a majority of revenue in the music industry, Spotify remains the largest platform, with 626 million users and 246 million subscribers worldwide. Independent artists face challenges in securing top spots on the global list due to the billions of streams required.
