Four women who accused former Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill of drunkenly groping them at a bar have dropped their civil lawsuit against him just before jury selection was set to begin. The women claimed that Hill committed battery against them at an Indianapolis bar in 2018 and defamed them by calling their allegations false.
Their decision to drop the suit came after years of investigations and litigation. The women’s attorneys stated that the trial could not provide them with the relief they sought, which was for Hill to accept responsibility for his actions.
Hill, who has denied the allegations, stated that the case’s dismissal vindicated him. Despite the dismissal, the Indiana Supreme Court suspended his law license in 2020 after finding that he committed battery against the women.
Hill lost the 2020 Republican attorney general nomination and attempted a political comeback in 2022 but was unsuccessful. He also entered the Indiana governor’s race but was defeated by U.S. Sen. Mike Braun in the Republican primary. Hill’s legal troubles and the allegations against him have been a significant issue in his political career.
