The Indiana Hoosiers football team is set to make history by playing in their first College Football Playoff as the bracket expands to 12 teams. The Hoosiers, with an impressive 11-1 record, are ranked No. 8 and will face Notre Dame in the first round. The matchup will take place at Notre Dame Stadium on Friday, Dec. 20. Notre Dame, ranked No. 5, has had a strong season with an 11-1 record, outscoring opponents by an average of 31.7 points.

Other teams receiving byes in the playoff are Oregon, Georgia, Boise State, and Arizona State. Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti and Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman are scheduled to speak about the matchup. The winner of the IU/Notre Dame game will advance to play No. 2-seeded Georgia in the Sugar Bowl in the second round of the College Football Playoff.
