High school football season has officially begun in Indiana, with Michigan schools set to join in the following week. Local teams have already hit the field, with a range of scores reported in games involving our region.
Concord managed to edge out Elkhart with a close 13-12 victory, while Mishawaka dominated Mishawaka Marian with a 41-24 win. Penn had a high-scoring game against Valparaiso, securing a 49-42 win, and New Prairie defeated LaPorte with a score of 33-14.
Other notable matchups include Lakeland’s narrow 21-20 win over South Bend Saint Joseph, as well as Fairfield’s dominant 55-17 victory over Goshen. Plymouth also put on an impressive performance, triumphing over Twin Lakes with a score of 53-20.
In a tightly contested game, Hammond Central managed to defeat South Bend Washington 28-24, and South Bend Riley secured a convincing 35-0 win over Hammond Noll. Culver Academies also had a solid win over South Bend Adams with a score of 36-14.
With many more games still to come, local fans can look forward to more exciting matchups and competitive play as the high school football season progresses.
