Dozens of newly published Indianapolis authors showcased their work on Young Authors Day, a community literacy fair organized by Tevin Studdard, a community advocate and literacy leader. Studdard created the LEAD program to teach people of all ages the process of publishing their own books. For high school athletes, Studdard teaches bookmaking and how to sell on Amazon, while adults can attend a three-day intensive workshop on book concept, content, formatting, and publishing. One of the authors, eight-year-old Chelsea Yeakey, has already become a #1 Amazon Selling Author with her book “Exercise Time with Rosie”. Another author, Trace McMillian, a realtor and author, has seen success with his book “Little Landlords: Real Estate 101 for Kids!” which teaches financial literacy and real estate basics. Studdard’s goal is to continue increasing literacy rates in the city and providing opportunities for individuals to publish their own work. The community supports and benefits from these authors who are using their talents to create and share valuable knowledge and stories.
