Teen in Austin area assists vulnerable individuals with technology obstacles

Founder Joshua Natinksy has created the company “Support Sharks” in 2022, with the aim of helping older generations navigate the internet and avoid scams. Offering services both in-person and virtually, Natinksy and his team of volunteers provide lessons on various online skills such as Microsoft Word and Excel. The monthly membership program also includes assistance with tech-related questions, spam emails, and free resources for members.

One of the clients benefiting from “Support Sharks” is 97-year-old Ruth Thomas, who has found a new passion for creating online Hallmark cards with the help of Natinksy. The program has allowed Thomas to explore her creative side and connect with her younger self. Despite challenges of aging, she has been able to rediscover her identity through the new skills she has learned.

Inspired by the struggles his own grandparents faced with technology, Natinksy has dedicated himself to helping older individuals like Thomas embrace the digital world. With the support of his team of volunteers, “Support Sharks” has successfully expanded its client base to hundreds of older adults seeking guidance with navigating the internet.

Through individualized lessons and ongoing support, “Support Sharks” is making a positive impact on the lives of elderly individuals like Ruth Thomas, enabling them to stay connected, informed, and engaged in the digital age.
