The implementation of a new position called the patient technology technician (PTT) has proven to be a game-changer in providing support to frontline nurses and certified nursing assistants. These tech experts are available 24/7 to troubleshoot issues with various electronic devices, enabling nurses to focus on patient care without the added stress of dealing with technology malfunctions.
The PTT role has already shown significant benefits, including time and cost savings, increased staff satisfaction, and improved patient care outcomes. Nurses have reported feeling more confident in meeting their patients’ needs and being able to provide better quality care with the help of a PTT. The presence of a PTT on the unit has also been linked to increased job satisfaction among nursing staff, with many expressing a willingness to accept new positions knowing that PTTs will be available to assist.
