Sportable, a sports technology company based in the UK, is set to establish its North American Innovation Center in Indiana. The company has developed a ball-and-player tracking platform that uses sensors inside balls to provide real-time data for measuring player and team performance. Sportable’s CEO, Dugald Macdonald, cited Indiana’s sports culture and commitment to innovation as reasons for choosing the state for their operations.
With about 100 employees, Sportable has expanded its technology from rugby to sports leagues such as the NFL, NCAA football, and the Canadian Football League. The company previously worked with the Indianapolis Colts to track quarterback data. Their expansion to Indiana aligns with the state’s goal of becoming a sports tech powerhouse.
Sports Tech HQ Inc., a nonprofit supported by the Indiana Economic Development Corp., is leading a network of sports tech companies in the state. Sportable will join this ecosystem to further grow their presence in the U.S. market. The company did not specify the number of jobs that will be created or the location of the innovation center.
