The Hancock County Prosecutor’s Office has announced that no charges will be filed against the shooter involved in the fatal shooting at an Amazon warehouse in Indianapolis. The shooting occurred on Dec. 13, 2024, resulting in the death of Isaac Riley. The shooter, whose identity has not been revealed, was found to have acted in self-defense according to the investigation.
The incident began with an argument in the break room between Riley, who was not scheduled to work that day, and the shooter. Riley threatened the shooter, who attempted to leave to avoid a confrontation. However, Riley followed the shooter and closed the distance aggressively, prompting the shooter to fear for their safety. The shooter then fired three shots, killing Riley.
The prosecution concluded that the shooter had made multiple attempts to disengage from Riley and had reason to believe that force was necessary to prevent serious bodily injury. As a result, no charges will be filed, as the shooting was justified under Indiana’s self-defense laws.
The Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office and Sheriff’s Department expressed gratitude to Amazon for their cooperation during the investigation.
