The International Training Technology Exhibition and Conference (IT²EC) is set to take place in Oslo, Norway from March 25-27, 2025. In an exclusive interview, Air Vice Marshal (Retired) Gary Waterfall, the senior military adviser for the event, shared insights into the themes and focus of the upcoming conference.
The overarching theme for IT²EC 2025 is ‘accelerating the technology of tomorrow into today’s training’. This theme is driven by recent events, including the conflict in Ukraine, which has showcased the importance of innovation and technology in modern military operations.
The conference will explore critical enablers of future military training, such as artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR). These technologies are expected to drive capabilities and discussions at the event.
Norway has been selected as the host country for IT²EC 2025 due to its significant defense budget and focus on advanced training for naval acquisitions and NATO operations in challenging conditions. The conference aims to strike a balance between global and Eurocentric perspectives, with over 60 countries expected to attend.
Key exhibitors at IT²EC will include companies specializing in AI, AR, and VR technologies, showcasing their applications in military training. The use of data and analytics in simulation training will also be a central topic of discussion, with a focus on predictive analysis to inform future training needs.
