Vatican states Pope Francis had a good night’s rest

The 88-year-old Pope Francis has been hospitalized with pneumonia and breathing difficulties since February 14th. Concerns about his health have been growing as he suffered two episodes of respiratory failure and required the use of an oxygen mask and ventilator. After spending two days on a ventilator, he has now switched back to high-flow oxygen therapy. The pontiff has been unable to deliver the traditional Angelus prayer in person for the last three Sundays and will miss the start of Lent, a significant religious observance in the Catholic faith. His hospital stay is the longest during his 12-year papacy, and his health condition remains guarded, as doctors are cautious while he is not yet out of danger. Pope Francis has a history of lung-related issues, having undergone a partial lung removal as a young man. The Vatican has reported that he “rested well” overnight and continues to show signs of improvement, alternating between prayer and rest. The pope is being closely monitored by medical professionals as he continues his treatment for pneumonia in both lungs. The faithful and well-wishers are keeping Pope Francis in their thoughts and prayers as he undergoes medical care at the hospital.
