All Greek life social events at Indiana University’s campus in Bloomington are on hold until the end of the month, as announced by school officials. The pause is meant to address health and safety concerns within the community, according to the president of IU’s Interfraternity Council, Andrew Golde. The decision reflects a commitment to accountability and ensuring the safety of members and guests. This comes after IU fraternity Beta Sigma Psi was issued a cease and desist order due to allegations related to alcohol and endangering others. Another fraternity is under cease and desist for hazing. Multiple Greek organizations at the university are also on disciplinary statuses or have been suspended for dangerous behavior. The pause on social events will be in effect until March 24, allowing time for the IFC and Panhellenic Councils to enforce updated risk management policies and create an action plan moving forward. The safety and well-being of all members and guests are top priorities for the university and Greek organizations during this time.
