Eastern Kentucky University men’s tennis team secured a 4-1 victory over Southern Indiana at the USI Tennis Center in Indiana. The Colonels won the doubles point and three singles matches to claim the win. Nuno Pinheiro and Fernando Bulnes led the team with straight-set victories in singles matches. Despite dropping one singles match, Ryan Kitchin secured the win for EKU with a two-set victory. This win improves EKU’s record to 7-11 as they head into Atlantic Sun Conference play.
The doubles matches saw Bulnes and Pinheiro winning 6-1 on the top flight, followed by a 6-3 victory on the second flight. In singles, Pinheiro and Bulnes continued their dominance with impressive wins, while Kitchin sealed the victory for the Colonels. The EKU men’s tennis team will face North Florida in their next match on March 16 in the ASUN Conference opener at home.
This victory marks EKU’s second consecutive win, providing them with momentum as they enter conference play. The team’s strong performance in both doubles and singles matches demonstrates their skill and determination as they aim for further success in the remainder of the season.
