Defense attorneys have formally filed an appeal in the Delphi Murders case, as a video of one of the teen girls killed near the Monon High Bridge in February 2017 was released. Richard Allen was found guilty in November of two counts of murder for the deaths of 13-year-old Abby Williams and 14-year-old Libby German. The video shows German captured a 43-second video on the bridge shortly before the girls went missing. The video, known as the “bridge guy” video, shows the girls walking on the bridge before encountering a man who orders them to “down the hill.” The girls were later found dead with their throats slit. Allen was sentenced to 130 years in prison for the murders.
Allen’s attorneys have filed an appeal with the Indiana Court of Appeals, citing false testimony and newly discovered evidence that could potentially overturn the conviction. The trial court retains jurisdiction until a notice of completion is filed by the Carroll County Clerk’s Office within the next 30 days. This appeal comes as a new development in the high-profile case that has gripped the community since the tragic murders of Abby and Libby.
