The collision occurred around 1:15 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 12 and South Redbud Trail, just south of Buchanan. The driver of the Jeep Wrangler, the Edwardsburg man, was ejected from his vehicle and later pronounced deceased at a hospital in Niles. Both drivers were found without seatbelts, and alcohol is being investigated as a potential factor in the crash.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing, with assistance from various local agencies. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time.
