U.S. Rep. Jim Baird of Indiana recently voiced support for President Donald Trump’s new tariffs on Chinese goods, citing the need to counter China’s global ambitions. Baird, a farmer himself, expressed concern for Indiana’s agriculture industry, particularly soybean and pork exports which have been hit by China’s retaliatory tariffs. He defended cuts made by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, stating that an audit of the federal government for waste, fraud, and abuse is necessary.
In addition, Baird addressed the listing of federal buildings for disposal, stating that the government should always strive to use its resources efficiently. Baird’s remarks were made during an interview on News 8’s “All INdiana Politics” program, where he shared his views on various issues impacting the country.
