Stephanos, who has created portraits for various publications, found the opportunity to draw the Betty White stamp particularly meaningful, especially after his mother’s recent passing. He saw familiar qualities in White’s blend of wit and warmth that reminded him of his mother. The design for the stamp was inspired by a portrait of White taken in 2010, with Stephanos choosing to dress White in purple to reflect a deeper part of her legacy. He also incorporated a paw print earring as a subtle nod to White’s animal advocacy, which was requested by her estate. Stephanos believes stamps are little pieces of art that dress up correspondence and appreciates the ability to communicate in this unique way. He plans to exclusively use the Betty White stamp in all his future mailings. The illustrator believes White’s stamp symbolizes positivity, humor, and brightness, making it perfect for conveying messages with a happy and positive tone.
