Melissa Samuel, the mastermind behind the brand Finesse Your Claws, is making waves in the world of nail art from her private studio in Brooklyn. With a coveted client list that includes big names like SZA, Lil Yachty, and Justine Skye, Samuel’s bespoke 3-D nail designs have gained her a loyal following and a spot on the industry’s A-list.
Originally from London, Samuel made the move to New York in 2015 and quickly made a name for herself working at nail salons in Brooklyn and Manhattan. When the pandemic forced salons to close, Samuel took matters into her own hands and began designing nails from her apartment.
Finesse Your Claws is a one-woman show, with Samuel relying on her muse, influencer Alani Figueroa, to help elevate her brand. Figueroa’s endorsement led to a collaboration with fashion brand Moschino, where Samuel’s custom nail sets caught the eye of designer Jeremy Scott, leading to more opportunities for collaboration.
With the success of her partnership with Moschino, Samuel was inspired to open her own studio in June of 2020. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Samuel’s dedication to her craft and her unique designs have solidified her reputation as a top nail artist in the industry.
