Indiana State University is kicking off its 2025 outdoor track and field season with the Pacesetter Sports Invitational on Saturday at the Gibson Track and Field Complex. The event will feature teams from Ball State, Chicago State, Dayton, and more. The complex will now be named after John McNichols, a legendary coach who led the Sycamores to numerous championships.
The Sycamores are expected to perform well this season, with the women’s team predicted to be conference favorites and the men’s team ranked second in the MVC Outdoor Track and Field Preseason Poll. They are aiming to defend their titles and continue their success on the national stage.
Saturday’s meet will be the second in the history of the Gibson Complex to take place in March, and Indiana State has a strong track record in home meets. The team has set numerous records in past home events and is looking to continue that trend this season.
