Gibbs sets new javelin record as Sycamores dominate outdoor opener with top finishes


Indiana State kicked off its 2025 outdoor season in impressive fashion, securing 16 first-place finishes at the Pacesetter Sports Invitational. The meet, held at the Gibson Track and Field Complex, saw standout performances from Lillian Gibbs, who reset her school record in the javelin, along with Noah Bolt, Brittney Burak, Kamilla Gibson, Hadley Gradolf, and Ivan Weaver who all achieved program top-10 marks in their respective events.

The Sycamores dominated the competition, claiming first place as a team in both the men’s and women’s categories. On the men’s side, Indiana State amassed 233 points, finishing comfortably ahead of Marian (Ind.) in second place. The women’s team also excelled, earning 208 points and outpacing Ball State by 99.5 points.

Notable performances included Janiya Bowman and Casey Hood Jr. setting all-conditions program top-10 marks, alongside other athletes securing top-three finishes in various events.
