Dozens gathered outside a Tesla dealership in Castleton to protest Elon Musk and his federal government cuts as the leader of the Department of Government Efficiency. The protests were part of the international “Global Day of Action” opposing Musk’s recent moves. At least 200 protests took place in the United States, Canada, and Europe.
John Walters, a retired federal government employee, spoke out against Musk’s push to shrink the federal workforce through DOGE, claiming it was similar to actions by oligarchs in Russia. Protestors called on people to sell their Tesla vehicles and shares to retaliate against Musk’s cuts.
While some incidents of vandalism and vehicles being set on fire have occurred since January, the demonstrators on Saturday focused on peaceful protests. They urged for action against Musk and the Trump administration for raiding Social Security and other agencies.
The Trump administration has warned against anti-Tesla rhetoric, calling acts against the auto giant “acts of terrorism.” Organizers said they have more protests planned for the future.
