Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin tied Wayne Gretzky’s NHL record for career goals by scoring his 894th goal against the Chicago Blackhawks. Ovechkin, the first overall pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, has lived up to expectations and holds numerous scoring records. He has won nine Maurice “Rocket” Richard trophies for most goals in a season, three NHL MVP awards, and led the Capitals to a Stanley Cup victory in 2018.
