Members of the Indy Black Chamber of Commerce recently attended their annual lunch with legislators at the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis. The purpose of the luncheon was to allow Black business owners to connect with lawmakers and discuss any state laws that may impact their businesses or the Black community.
Thomas Griffin, a board member of the chamber, emphasized the importance of this year’s luncheon as an opportunity to share concerns with lawmakers and work towards creating unions with different groups and organizations. Griffin expressed the chamber’s hope to form a strong unit that can advocate for change or improvement in current policies.
Over the past decade, the Indy Black Chamber of Commerce has been dedicated to providing resources to Black business owners, including education and financing. By creating a platform for dialogue between business owners and lawmakers, the chamber aims to address issues affecting the Black community and advocate for positive change.
