Indiana supermarket briefly taken over by turkey before police intervene – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana Traffic

A wild turkey was found wandering through a Martin’s Supermarket in Granger, Ind. The St. Joseph County Police Department responded to the report and captured the turkey, which was perched on shelves in the pharmacy section. Bodycam footage of the capture and release was shared on the department’s Facebook page. Officer Kyle O’Konski grabbed the turkey by its legs and released it into a nearby forest. The video showed boxes of medication scattered on the floor during the capture. The department made a lighthearted joke about O’Konski’s negotiating skills with poultry. It remains unclear how the turkey managed to enter the store. The incident was summarized by the department as “no harm, no fowl.” Perhaps store surveillance footage could provide insight into how the bird gained access to the supermarket. Overall, it was a humorous and unusual situation that ended with the turkey safely released back into the wild.
