Easter travel plans disrupted by severe storms across Southern and Northeastern regions

Severe storms stretching from the South to the Northeast are expected to disrupt Easter weekend travel plans for many. On Friday, over 70 reports of baseball-sized hail were received in southern Wisconsin as part of this weather system. Around 14 million people are at risk of severe weather on Saturday, including in cities like Dallas and Cincinnati, with threats of large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes. Flight cancelations and delays have already begun in Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. Additionally, flooding caused by heavy rain is expected to continue, with a moderate risk of flash flooding in areas from Texas to Missouri.

On Easter Sunday, 11 million people are at risk for thunderstorms from east Texas to Illinois, with the greatest risk for tornadoes and damaging winds over Missouri and western Illinois. The weather pattern will also produce a temperature divide, with highs in the Rockies, Plains, and Southwest dropping well below average, while temperatures in the South to the Northeast soar well above average. Record highs are possible in cities like Tampa, Atlanta, and Nashville. Highs will continue to be above average across the Southeast into early next week.
