The HI-FI Annex in Fountain Square, Indianapolis, is gearing up for its final season before closing its doors for good. The outdoor concert venue, started during the COVID-19 pandemic, has been a temporary solution for indoor concerts. However, with unpredictable weather and limited operating months, the company behind the venue, MOKB, has decided to focus on its indoor venues, the HI-FI and the LO-FI Lounge, located in the Murphy Arts Building just down the block.
The new venue, set to open in 2026, will have space for about 1,300 people and will include features from the classic theater that once stood in the same location. MOKB has been known for introducing Indianapolis to up-and-coming artists and plans to continue this legacy with the new venue.
Local historian Sampson Levingston notes the building’s historical significance in Fountain Square and sees the revival of these old spaces as a positive step for the community. MOKB founder and CEO Josh Baker expresses gratitude for the support the venue has received over the years and looks forward to continuing to provide a platform for live music in Indianapolis.
