remembering Tyrone Brackett: A Community Treasure
Millville, DE — The Millville community is mourning the loss of Tyrone Brackett, a cherished longtime cook at Al Casapulla’s Subs, Steaks & Pizza, who passed away unexpectedly on April 25 at the age of 45. Known for his playful spirit and kindness, Brackett’s passing has left a profound impact on those who knew him.
His sister, Stacy Sockriter, fondly recalled Tyrone’s love for practical jokes, sharing a lighthearted memory of him playfully messing with her while she was eating blueberries. Brackett’s warmth and good-natured spirit resonated with many; he was described as "dependable" and a "very good person" by his employer, Al Casapulla.
Brackett suffered a tear in his aorta due to uncontrolled high blood pressure, which resulted in a hospitalization that included a long surgery at ChristianaCare Hospital. Despite the procedure going well, complications arose due to lack of circulation, ultimately leading to cardiac arrest.
“He knew the Lord, but I remember him saying he was scared of dying,” Casapulla reflected, emphasizing Brackett’s strong work ethic and sense of humor. Despite battling health issues, Brackett often kept his struggles to himself, choosing to focus on his friends and family.
Sockriter, who described him as a loving and helpful brother, is now seeking help to cover funeral expenses through a GoFundMe page, as Brackett did not have life insurance. While their mother, Mae Dale, grapples with the loss of her second child, Sockriter remains grateful for the outpouring of support from the community.
Tributes continue to flow in, highlighting his nurturing nature and the positive impact he had on many lives. Brackett’s legacy as a cherished friend and family member will endure in the hearts of those who loved him.
