Fever Stars Kick Off Practice at IMS Ahead of Big Race Weekend
SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) — The Indiana Fever’s excitement reached new heights this Sunday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) as star player Caitlin Clark and head coach Stephanie White waved the green flag to kick off team practice. They were joined by forward Aliyah Boston, guard Sophia Cunningham, rookie forward Makayla Timpson, and Fever president Kelly Krauskopf for the special event.
Prior to the practice session, the Fever players had the unique opportunity to meet Andretti Global’s Colton Herta, alongside WNBA student ambassadors. The team recently showcased their prowess in their season opener, dominating the Chicago Sky with a remarkable 35-point victory, led by Clark’s impressive triple-double—20 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
The Fever’s outing at IMS falls in line with an exciting month of May, as other local professional teams, including the Indianapolis Colts, have also visited the track. On the same day, the top 12 indy drivers battled for pole position, with Alex Palou, Scott McLaughlin, and Josef Newgarden emerging as Saturday’s fastest.
As the excitement builds for the upcoming Indianapolis 500, the Fever prepare for their next challenge, hosting the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. This weekend’s activities highlight both the Fever’s successful start to the season and the high-stakes atmosphere surrounding the imminent race.
