Conner Prairie Hosts Annual History on Tap Event Celebrating Local Makers
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH)— Conner Prairie is gearing up for its much-anticipated annual History on Tap event, scheduled for Friday, June 6. Now in its 13th year, the event invites guests to experience Prairie Town while savoring beverages from 16 local craft brewers, six distillers, six vintners, and a pair of cideries, along with non-alcoholic options.
Kim McCann, program developer at Conner Prairie, described the event as one of her favorites, noting, “It’s a great opportunity to bring in Hoosier makers and really highlight what they do.”
Attendees will stroll through the historical Prairie Town, interacting with costumed interpreters portraying life in 1836. While not all buildings will be open, visitors can engage with historical figures and learn about the era.
Highlighting the beverage offerings is Cherry Bounce, a historical liqueur enjoyed by George Washington, made with bourbon, tart cherries, spices, and sugar.
Set against the picturesque backdrop of Conner Prairie’s 400-acre grounds, the event promises a unique atmosphere distinct from typical beer festivals held in conventional venues. Guests can enjoy nature as they sample various drinks and participate in interactive historical activities.
Tickets for History on Tap are available online, with general admission granting access from 6 to 10 p.m. The event aims to provide an immersive blend of history and local craftsmanship, appealing to both history buffs and beverage enthusiasts alike.
