Fever Receive Positive MRI Updates for Sydney Colson and Sophie Cunningham Amidst Growing Injury Concerns for Indiana

Indiana Fever Faces Injury Challenges but Gets Positive MRI Results

The Indiana Fever received encouraging news following MRIs for Sydney Colson and Sophie Cunningham, both of whom exited Friday’s game against the Connecticut Sun with injuries. Coach Stephanie White reported that the scans revealed no long-term damage, although the status of both players remains uncertain for the Fever’s upcoming match against the Washington Mystics on Tuesday. "It’s a day-to-day thing," White said, adding that she hopes for their return soon.

The Fever are already grappling with injuries, as key player Caitlin Clark is out until at least June 10 due to a left quad injury, leaving the team with just eight healthy players. This situation necessitates finding a replacement player to bolster the roster for their next game.

Colson, injured during a drive when Sun guard Jacy Sheldon rolled up on her leg, had to leave the court and was unable to return. White described the injury as a "gut punch" that affected the team’s offensive strategy. Cunningham, who had previously been sidelined by an ankle injury, reinjured the same ankle in the fourth quarter, further complicating the Fever’s lineup.

As the Fever currently stands at 2-4 without Clark, White emphasized the team’s need to adapt quickly to these changes. The upcoming days will be critical for assessing the readiness of Colson and Cunningham while navigating their challenges on the court.
