Boulder Pro-Israel Demonstration Targeted by Suspected Arson Attack
Boulder, Colorado – A peaceful pro-Israel demonstration descended into chaos on Sunday when a man allegedly threw incendiary devices at participants, resulting in multiple injuries. Police Chief Stephen Redfearn confirmed that several attendees suffered burn-related injuries and at least two were hospitalized.
The incident occurred during the “Run for Their Lives” event, coordinated to raise awareness for hostages held in Gaza since the October 7 attacks in Israel. Attendees, including members of Boulder’s Jewish community, expressed heartbreak over the attack, which took place just before the Jewish holiday of Shavuot.
Local authorities have detained the suspect, who has not yet been identified. While federal agencies, including the FBI, are treating the incident as a “targeted terror attack,” local officials emphasized that the investigation is still ongoing, and a motive remains undetermined. Authorities are considering mental health factors as part of the investigation process.
FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino condemned the violence and are coordinating with local law enforcement to uncover further details. Colorado Governor Jared Polis expressed his concerns, stating that “hate-filled acts of any kind are unacceptable,” and pledged support for the investigation.
As the situation develops, local and federal officials continue to seek answers to ensure community safety. Further updates are expected in the coming days.
