Press Release: Revolutionizing Robot Control with PREDICT-6G
PREDICT-6G is set to transform the realm of remote control for precision robots by unifying various communication technologies. This cutting-edge project leverages ethernet, cellular, and WiFi networks to establish a reliable and deterministic framework known as Time Sensitive Network (TSN) services. Given the unpredictability of existing networks, which can suffer from delays and failures, PREDICT-6G promises enhanced operational health and safety in industrial settings while also reducing operational expenditures through centralized command and control.
At the core of PREDICT-6G are two pivotal components: the Multi-Domain Multi-technology data plane (MDP) and the AI-driven Control Plane (AICP). The MDP interconnects various access technologies, ensuring reliable packet delivery akin to efficient transport networks. This comparison highlights wired TSN as a dedicated rail system, while WiFi and cellular networks represent less predictable road networks. The goal is akin to ensuring critical deliveries, such as organ transplants, are executed flawlessly across different communication systems.
The MDP employs IETF Deterministic Networking (DetNet) to harmonize disparate technologies, enhancing reliability and timing through features like packet replication and prioritization. Additionally, enhancements in WiFi and 3GPP networks enable them to support deterministic qualities essential for time-sensitive tasks.
The AICP serves as a sophisticated management system, utilizing AI and Digital Twins to optimize service delivery, monitor performance, and guarantee that critical data arrives on time, regardless of network variations.
As the demand for advanced 6G applications grows, PREDICT-6G is poised to facilitate essential services, such as remote surgeries via precision robotic systems, reimagining the future of connected industries.
