Indianapolis Councilor Steps Down from Committees Amid Controversy
Indianapolis, IN – In a surprising turn of events, City-County Councilor Crista Carlino has resigned from several committee positions following her public call for Mayor Joe Hogsett to resign over sexual harassment allegations within his administration. In an open letter shared with News 8, Carlino apologized for her previous remarks urging resignation, acknowledging her failure to consult with her colleagues beforehand. “I apologize for the extreme accountability I called for in such a public way,” she wrote, addressing Council President Vop Osili and Vice President Ali Brown, and expressing regret for any distress her statements caused, particularly to Brown, whom she labeled as a survivor.
Carlino reaffirmed her commitment to serving in the Democratic Caucus and representing Council District 11 despite stepping back from her committee roles. As the situation unfolds, the dynamics within the Indianapolis City-County Council are poised for significant scrutiny.
