Child Injured in Accidental Grease Fire in Bargersville Apartment
BARGERSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A child was injured in an accidental grease fire at an apartment complex in Bargersville on Tuesday night. The Bargersville Fire Department reported that crews responded to the emergency at around 8:15 p.m. in the 3100 block of Clary Crossing, located just off State Road 135 south of Stones Crossing Road.
According to fire officials, a man and two children were present when the fire broke out. Firefighters found the injured child in the front yard and reported that the child was in stable condition upon being transported to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.
In addition to providing medical attention, the firefighters managed to rescue a dog and two cats from the flames. The incident also forced three other families to evacuate the apartment building.
Following an investigation, officials determined that the fire was accidental and was ignited by a grease fire on the stove. The Bargersville Fire Department shared information about the incident through a Facebook post, emphasizing the importance of fire safety in the kitchen.
