Indiana Fever Snap Losing Streak with Victory Over Mystics

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indiana Fever secured a much-needed 85-76 victory against the Washington Mystics on Tuesday night, breaking a three-game losing streak. The Fever, missing star Caitlin Clark due to a left quad strain and veteran Sophie Cunningham, who was sidelined early in Friday’s loss, turned in a stunning performance.

Kelsey Mitchell led the Fever with 23 points, while Lexie Hull, who scored all 14 of her points in the second half, provided a key boost. Indiana turned the game around in the third quarter, scoring an impressive 31 points after managing just 38 in the entire first half. Aari McDonald, playing her first game for the Fever, contributed significantly by hitting a pivotal three-pointer late in the third.

The Mystics attempted a comeback, starting the fourth quarter with a 12-point run to narrow the gap to 69-67, but Indiana responded decisively. Hull’s layup stretched the lead again, and after forcing a jump ball, Mitchell converted a three-point play, creating an eight-point cushion with just over a minute left.

Aliyah Boston added 10 points for Indiana, while Kiki Iriafen and Brittney Sykes each scored 20 for Washington. The Fever not only excelled offensively with a season-high 11 three-pointers but also stifled the Mystics’ shooting from beyond the arc, holding them to just 1 of 10. Indiana improved to 3-4, while Washington fell to 3-5.
