The holiday season in New York City kicks off with the tree lighting ceremony at Rockefeller Center, hosted by Kelly Clarkson. The ceremony will be broadcast live on NBC and streamed on Peacock, featuring live performances and the lighting of the tree with 50,000 multicolor LED lights. The star-studded event will include performances from music stars like the Backstreet Boys, Jennifer Hudson, and Broadway star Megan Hilty, as well as appearances by the Radio City Rockettes and NBC News anchors. The tree, a 74-foot-tall Norway spruce from Massachusetts, was donated by a family in honor of a late loved one and will be used to build homes for Habitat for Humanity after the holiday season. The tradition of the tree lighting at Rockefeller Center dates back to 1931 and will continue to be a symbol of the holiday season in New York City. Attendees can view the tree in person with tickets or watch the festivities from home on TV or online. After the ceremony, the tree will be lit daily until mid-January, with special timing on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
