The Rutgers women’s tennis team is gearing up for a pair of conference match-ups against Purdue and Indiana. They will face Purdue on Friday, March 14, and Indiana on Sunday, March 16. Rutgers went 1-1 in their first weekend of conference play, with a win over Oregon and a loss to Washington. The team had a successful fall season and started the spring season with a 9-3 record, their best start since 2020. They also made history in the ITA rankings, claiming their first-ever team and doubles ranking. Graduate student Yana Gurevich earned All-Big Ten honors. Alum Tara Chilton and assistant coach Hailey Barrett received regional and national recognition from the ITA for their contributions to the team.
The team welcomed four new players in the offseason, including two freshmen and two transfers. Returners Jackie Lopez, Minchae Kim, Mai Nguyen, and Naomi Karki are back for another season. Rutgers has a tough history against Purdue, losing all eight matchups, but managed to beat Indiana in 2021.
