Sheriff Turning Over Tax Collection Money
The Deschutes County Sheriff’s office recently turned over $14,304.84 of 1924 taxes and $18,159.42 of 1923 taxes to the county treasurer. These amounts have been collected since the beginning of the year. Taxes for 1924 will be delinquent after April 5.
Owner of Inn Reveals Plans for New Wing
Philip R. Brooks, owner of the Pilot Butte Inn, announced plans for the immediate erection of a new wing extending northward along Wall Street. The addition, designed by architect Hugh Thompson, will have 36 guest rooms, modern facilities, and a Swiss chalet style of architecture. Construction is already underway, and Brooks expects the building to be completed by June 1.
Famed Dog Driver to Visit Bend
Gunnar Kasson, known for his heroic dash to Nome with dog teams carrying diphtheria serum, is set to visit Bend soon. Kasson’s famous dog team may even appear in California motion pictures. He reached Nome in February, saving numerous lives with his dangerous trip through a storm.
“Tree Planting Day” for Redmond Is Set
Redmond is planning a campaign to have all four highway approaches lined with shade trees. The initiative, sponsored by the Redmond Commercial Club, designates March 31 as Tree Planting Day. The city already has a good start in planting shade trees.
