North Korea Conducts Ballistic Missile Tests Amid International Tensions
Seoul, South Korea – North Korea has launched a series of short-range ballistic missiles off its east coast, raising concerns about potential weapon exports. According to South Korea’s military, the missiles were fired from near Wonsan between 8:10 AM and 9:20 AM local time, covering approximately 800 kilometers before landing in the Sea of Japan.
This marks North Korea’s fourth round of missile tests this year, following a series of launches in January and March. The situation is further complicated by North Korea’s recent mutual defense treaty with Russia, solidified during President Vladimir Putin’s visit last year.
The missile launches have sparked criticism from Japan, prompting Defense Minister Nakatani Gen to express condemnation and confirm that Tokyo has issued a formal protest to Pyongyang.
