Fishers man, Akeenen Anton Lamar Hunt, has been sentenced to an additional 35 years in prison after being found guilty of 106 criminal counts in August. This is in addition to the 46-year sentence he received in August for 15 felony charges including kidnapping and rape. In total, Hunt will serve 81 years in prison. The latest case involved Hunt violating a “no contact” order multiple times and being convicted of invasion of privacy and obstruction of justice. The initial case stemmed from an incident where Hunt forcibly took a woman back to her home, physically assaulted her, and raped her.
The woman involved in the case fled to Dubai to avoid testifying in person at the trial. Despite this, Hunt was still found guilty based on the evidence and investigation conducted by the Greenfield Police Department. The judge’s decision to sentence Hunt to an additional 35 years was met with approval from the Hancock County Prosecutor’s Office, who are committed to enforcing the law to keep victims safe.
Resources for victims of domestic violence are available on the Domestic Violence Network website. Hancock County Prosecutor Brent Eaton emphasized the importance of holding criminals accountable and ensuring the safety of victims.
