Indiana man found after child thrown from car during high-speed Ohio pursuit

Authorities in Ohio arrested Zachary Chervenka of Butler, Indiana after a high-speed chase that resulted in a nine-month-old infant being ejected from his car. Chervenka was being sought due to an active arrest warrant when he fled from authorities with two children in his vehicle. Despite the infant falling out of the car during the pursuit, officers ended the chase due to hazardous weather conditions and high speeds. The baby was eventually found and taken to Toledo Hospital for evaluation in fair condition. Chervenka was later located and arrested by the Edgerton Police Department, facing charges of child endangerment related to the incident. Court records revealed that Chervenka has additional arrest warrants in DeKalb County, including charges of obstruction of justice, identity deception, theft, resisting law enforcement, and criminal recklessness. Prosecutors emphasized the serious risk that Chervenka’s actions posed to the lives of those involved, particularly the juveniles in the car. Despite the traumatic events, authorities managed to locate both children and apprehend the suspect. The investigation into Chervenka’s reckless behavior continues as he remains in police custody.
