The Golden State Valkyries, the new WNBA team set to begin play next season, have finalized their roster with the addition of 11 players, including former Indiana Fever center Temi Fagbenle. Fagbenle was selected by the Valkyries during the draft after the Fever did not protect her. The Valkyries also added players like Iliana Rupert, Veronica Burton, and Maria Conde. They plan to be active in free agency in February to further strengthen their roster. The team will play at the Chase Center, home of the Golden State Warriors, and practice in Oakland. Coach Natalie Nakase emphasized the extensive scouting process the team went through to select players who fit their culture. This expansion draft marks the first in 16 years for the WNBA. Warriors star Draymond Green was seen showing support for the Valkyries by wearing a jersey during a recent game. The Valkyries are gearing up for their inaugural season in 2025 and are excited about the new opportunities and challenges ahead.
